File:Catullus 9.webm has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

No eng text, yet a category is needed?[edit]

not sure why there needs to be a category if there's no Eng text? Llywelyn2000 (talk) 15:56, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi, it's here TimedText:Geschichte_der_Hauptstadt_Berlin_(CC_BY-SA_4.0).webm.en-gb.srt - maybe you didn't spot it as it was listed under "B"? I stopped specifying UK English because they got listed oddly. JimKillock (talk) 15:59, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
No. I searched under en - English. No text file. That's why I didn't redub these videos! Just tried it again, now, and yes the text file appears. Odd! Llywelyn2000 (talk) 16:07, 31 August 2020 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I just copied the files from British English to English - you will now see that there are both listed in the subtitles. (Click on the "cc" symbol / next to the timer in the bottom bar opposite the play symbol to see the full list of extant subtitles in alphabetical order). Book page uploads[edit]

Hello JimKillock! Can you tell me how this is created c:File:Dialogues of Roman Life.djvu? I want to do a similar uploads for a book! Haoreima (talk) 12:29, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

What do you have? A book, or a PDF, or other scans eg .jpgs?
I have an online book from archive.org. Haoreima (talk) 15:11, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
You can just upload the PDF that archive.org provides, without converting to .djvu - just use the "Upload" button on the front page - in fact that is probably best, in case you find you need to remove or add pages that are wrong, damaged or missing. Otherwise there is advice here about djvu imports, but essentially it is more trouble than necessary, if you want to digitise it on Wikisource for instance. --JimKillock (talk) 18:10, 26 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]
I've written a general guide on this here if that helps. --JimKillock (talk) 14:22, 28 August 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Hi @JimKillock: I just want to let you know that #REDIRECT[[]] code perfectly works in the TimedText namespace. I would like to ask you use it if you need to have the same subtitles for any file as they are for one another. Why am I asking? For many reasons, the main is that if there are corrections need to be made, they will apply to the main subtitles and appear on the redirect subtitles automatically. Thanks a lot for understanding! And all the best to you! — Pacha Tchernof (talk) 19:02, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Thanks, @Pacha Tchernof: ; unfortunately the videos generally need 'stretching' and sometimes different sections repacing to fit the audio tracks, as people speak Latin more slowly than the original German. I haven't had a moment to go through the timings on this just yet but it's about 40% longer than the .de version. --JimKillock (talk) 20:07, 3 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hi @JimKillock! Sorry for the late responce. Oh, I didn't notice that the video was slowered. Sorry for desturbing you and thank you so much for the explanational comment. All the best, Pacha Tchernof (talk) 08:34, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Hey @JimKillock! How are you doing? :) — Pacha Tchernof (talk) 20:21, 7 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Good thanks, just one more Latin subs done, but I have time this August to push on various things like this. Hope all is well with you. --JimKillock (talk) 13:40, 11 August 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
@JimKillock, sorry for the delay in the response! Actually, I almost forgot about the nomination of those six subtitles which were added to Commons without actual translations. At the beginning of August 2022, I noticed that you uploaded subtitles in Latin for almost a hour video, and I immediately thought about our conversation.
I hope your August went great! I just edited only one set of done subtitles. If you're working on the translation, please take the updated "de" or "en" versions of the subtitles as drafts for Latin subtitles, ok? I updated them some time ago.
All the best! — Pacha Tchernof (talk) 12:45, 5 September 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Links just in case to make the drafts to be easily found:
  1. Bahnbrechende Entdeckungen der Antike: en, de
  2. Taj Mahal - Mausoleum der Liebe: en, de
  3. done
  4. Newtons Idee der Schwerkraft: en, de
  5. Mekka, Geburtsort des Islam: en, de
  6. Die Aachener Kaiserpfalz: en, de
I hope it could somehow help in creating Latin translation!

Hello![edit]

Hi, @JimKillock! How are you doing?

I just want to remind you about not translated into Latin, but added as subtitles texts. Do you have any update about it? I'm curious to know :)

Also, I have something special for you :) I've noticed on your user page a to-do transcriptions list for Terra X videos' and… I want to let you know that a few days ago I finished making subtitles in German for all listed video (except for the last one 🤭) and other videos. It's 186 videos in total!

Would you mind to recommend several German native speackers who could participate on this small progect of completing the subtitles by checking them? It includes watching (as you know) really small videos, changing their category from "unchecked" to "checked" and, if rarely needed, making some minor changes.

Or, maybe, you could suggest any specific place where I can write to the German-speaking editors who could elaborate this kind of activity with TimedText subtitles on Commons?

With all the best wishes,
Pacha Tchernof (talk) 12:32, 9 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]

That really is great news, well done :) I don't have recommendations on German speakers but Wikimedia DE is very active, and they have chat channels etc. I've commented on the Latin subs issue elsewhere, and again thank you for your patience on this. --JimKillock (talk) 08:53, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
Thanks a lot for mentionning Wikimedia DE! It's the great recommendation! I'll get in touch with them. Going to respond on the topic of Latin subs where the responce was left. Cheers! — Pacha Tchernof (talk) 17:10, 11 February 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
